Snatch Traffic Out of Thin Air

Got blog? No, why not? Are you afraid you can't write? Maybe you think you can't set one up. Or, is it because you think you don't have the time. That's the lamest excuse of them all!

If you expect to build a list, you need people's eyeballs on your squeeze page, and blogs will do that for you. Search engines love them because they're mainly text based. All you need to do to rank high in the search engines is to make a daily entry. Try to stick to a theme, and make sure that keywords surrounding your niche are in every single post, it won't take long for your blog to be ranked. One of mine got a PR5 in less than six months, and a PR5 is great!

When Google appoints page rank, it depends on lots of factors. I don't want to get into that now, but let's just say that a PR5 will show up better in search results than a PR0, 1, 2, 3, or 4. And for that reason it will get more traffic. The goal is to get your blog into the first three pages of results, the first page being the most desirable, with the top spot as your bullseye. That position gets the most traffic of all.

But let's address the issues that are stopping you.

You think you can't write:

Well, you can. Anyone can. If you need something to help you, get a home study course and learn it. Then, sit in front of your computer or a blank sheet of paper, and just sit there. Soon, you'll begin to form ideas. Write them down. Do this for one hour, at the same time, every day. Eventually, you'll train your brain to think, "It's writing time!"

Or, find content from other places on the web. Go to one of the free article directories, like Ezine Articles or iSnare, and find content that's pertinent to your niche. Be sure to use the whole article, if you do this. Add a paragraph of introduction at the beginning and a paragraph after the author's bio box at the end, and wrap the article in your own words. If you use other people's words any other way, be sure to use less than 10% or you're plagiarizing. If you want to use any more than that, ask the author. And always give credit where credit is due.

You're still not convinced? OK, so hire a ghostwriter. You can find them easily at Elance.com or Craigslist.com, and look to pay around $10 - 15 an article. But all rights with the article and then, you can do anything you want with it, including rewriting, repurposing, rebranding with your own byline, selling it, etc.

You don't have the know-how to set up a blog:

Not many people do! But it's not a problem. If you are hosting on a cPanel server, WordPress can be installed easily by a great installer program called Fantastico. Just go into your cPanel account, and click Fantastico. Then, a whole bunch of options will probably come up. One of them will be "install WordPress blog," or something like that. You fill in a few blanks, and voila! You have your own blog. Editing the templates are another issue, and that may be a bit tricky for you, if you're not familiar with HTML or PHP.

If you don't know HTML, no worries. You can hire a programmer at places like RentaCoder.com. Tell them what you want and what you're willing to pay and you'll find someone to do the heavy lifting for you.

You don't have time for a blog:

You don't have time NOT to have a blog. Blogs are great for many reasons. First, as mentioned above search engines love them. By placing a link to your main site on your blog, you're getting a one-way link back to your site, too. That's also great for search engine optimization because search engines look at links like votes. The more one-way votes you have, the higher your site will rank. But the best thing about a blog is the traffic you'll get. Sign up for some Web2.0 sites, like StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us, and Spicy Page, and book mark your posts there, too. You'll get tons of traffic!

People need to see your squeeze page to sign up for your list, right? If you don't take some action to make this happen, you won't get a very big list, so get that blog going. Join some Web 2.0 sites on blogging, too, like MyBlogLog.com, Technorati.com, or FeedBlaster.com. You'll see your traffic pick up. Maybe overnight!
