India is nucleus center for outsourcing software development, which endows outsourcing services to IT companies located in different parts of the world. In this recession hit period it is getting very tough for companies to get software outsourcing work from their western counter parts, but it is predicted that India will recover very quickly from recession than their counterparts as it has a better IT infrastructure and employees here provide quality work.

There are endless reasons for India to be an offshore software development center, such as its easy on the pocket as more work in less time, large number of English speaking population, good practical knowledge, and excellent backup services delivered. Moreover, to enhance the trust of western world Indian government has implemented the IT act 2000, as a law, which is very severe. Currently there are over 500,000 people employed in IT field in India, which largely constitutes of software outsourcing companies and more than 50% are currently employed in Bangalore alone. In addition, it is estimated than annually more than 100,000 employees would be needed to further enhance the information technology field. This demand would be fulfilled by recruiting students for offshore software development work who are pass outs from various universities across India. These students undergo courses that are developed keeping in mind the needs of the IT industry. But there is a problem to it, the number of students who passes out are currently less than required, also a few percentage of students do not have caliber to succeed, so as a result there is a shortage of quality and skilled people which would prove very drastic in the future.

Aside from offshore software outsourcing, knowledge process outsourcing and business process outsourcing are also developing as business hubs in India, which is very good for us as it will develop more employment opportunities and henceforth, large number of people will be able to satisfy their needs.

As per the figures, estimated total income generated from IT and IT enabled services for year 2008-2009 is over 50 billion dollars. Even in this recession, hit time outsourcing services is witnessing a growth of around 30% annually, which is quite astonishing.
