Enjoy a Night on the Town in Milton Keynes-00-5356

While there may be an unusual amount of roundabouts and strange cemented animals in the town, there is more to Milton Keynes than first meets the eye. Its nightlife is a powerful draw for many visitors and locals and there is plenty to offer the part animals amongst us with a good selection of bars and clubs that rival those of the nation’s capital.

Oceana is the largest and most prolific club located in the Xscape building and the club boasts a late night license that sees it staying open until 03:30 on a Saturday and 02:00-03:00 the rest of the week. The dress code can be strict and smart wear is advisable. Trainers and hoodies should definitely be left at home. There are six different areas inside this vast club with each part of the buildings playing different music and housing a different theme. The Reykjavik Ice House plays anything from funky hip hop through to house and dance and is often the busiest part of the club later in the night. Other rooms include the New York Disco Room that plays well-known music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s and the Rhythm Room where party goers can chill out on comfortable seats while listening to a live DJ.

Cross the road over into the Theatre District and you will find a whole range of bars. Opus is has lately won itself the prestigious honour of hosting the Ultra Vegas club nights. Funky house tunes played by local and national DJs can be enjoyed here and as with many bars and clubs in Milton Keynes; the dressier the better! Lloyds Number One Bar is a little further into the district and due to the popularity of the Wetherspoons chain, it never fails to attract a large crowd enjoying various themed nights throughout the week as well as cheap drinks and a casual dress code.

A little further out of the main town in an area known as Fenny Stratford (close to Bletchley) is a gay, lesbian and transgender club called The Pink Punters. There are three floors here, all playing different music with garage, house and a variety of other tunes played until 05:00. There is only one gentlemen’s club in the town and Smile can be found close to the train station where many groups of men out for stag nights end up later in the night. Revolutions is a Vodka bar that can be found close to Oceana and it is home to funky ice statues and a more relaxed dress code than its neighbour. However, shows and collars are advisable to ensure you don’t get turned away.

Arguably the most famous club in Milton Keynes for many years was Ultra Vegas and after its closure in the late 1990s, the popular club moved from its home in the Winter Gardens to another nightclub, called The Empire. This has also now shut down but with a new venue came new regulars and the club soon found itself without a home once more. Ultra Vegas has now made its comeback with various big nights held in a bar/club called Opus in the busy Theatre District area. The music is provided by famous DJs playing house music until the small hours. There is no strict dress code on these nights but the wackier the better and the no holds barred fashion makes it the only true club in the town. Glowsticks and spiky hair abounds!
