Adding Flavor to Your Diet without The Fat

By: Gary Grewal

For a healthy life you need to control your tongue. It becomes very necessary to restrict yourself if you don’t want to increase fats in your body. You always need to have healthy food. Normally people get afraid of nutritious food as they think it contains only boiled vegetables, green salads etc., which is a common misconception. There are many ways by which you can develop tastes in whatever you cook in your kitchen and that to without excess of fats in your meal. You really don’t need extraordinary things for that.

In the refrigerator:

Salads are a part of nutritious food. But many people hate salads. They keep avoiding eating only salads. They rather prefer adding vinegar, oils flavored with herbs and spices called Vinaigrette. Having buttermilk, which contains no fat, becomes essential so as to avoid side effects of low fat Vinaigrette.

Many times people use iceberg lettuce to make salads which are good in taste but less in nutritional value. Always try to maintain a balance between spinach and other baby greens. Do not forget to include enough pieces of crisp cucumbers and carrots. Pork bacon is much more fatty as compared to turkey bacon. So, turkey bacon is a better option for the health of an individual.

Bits are used to improve the salad’s taste. To make turkey sandwich tasty, people add stuff like potato wedges. Citric acid and acetic acid helps improve the tastes of fish. Adding lemon juice on the fishes will give you a great taste without adding much of fats. These different combinations of vegetables like potato, sweet potato, bits, and roots like carrots, radishes always helps to improve your salad’s taste. But be sure that you have them without frying.

In the pantry:

Olive oil is best option for cooking. So try not to avoid it. It does contain as many fats as other oils, but these fats are necessary for our body. It also improves the flavor of salad greens and sautéed veggies to a great extent. Fats are necessary for body but we need to avoid excess of fats.

Try and avoid fried or canned chicken. Broth of the chicken would be a better substitute for butter. Fried chicken contains much more fats as there are fats already present in chicken itself. Mashed potatoes can be cooked with the same as they contain low fats.

Small amount of Vinegar can make a lot difference in sauce’s taste. Thus you can add various kinds of flavors to sauce you make.

Adding minced hot peppers to your chicken is also another option. Research proves that consumption of spicy foods helps in increasing the metabolism rate of the body.

Sun dried tomatoes can be use to make Italian dishes.

To make Almond slivers tastier, you can toast them. They give best taste when they are served with salads.

In the spice rack:

Different kinds of herbs and spices can be used to cook dishes with varied tastes. You always can try different combinations which are healthy, contain low fats and are great in taste as well.

Rather than eating simple rice you can add ginger or cardamom to it. This will help a great deal in improving and tantalizing the taste of the rice.

Seafood and scallops can be seasoned with old bay.
